RIM Acquire Irish Software Firm NewBay
RIM (Research in Motion) the creators of Blackberry have announced the takeover of Irish software firm NewBay. The deal was worth near $100 million to the Irish firm, with conditions of keeping the headquarters in Dublin, where its current employees are located. NewBay also has offices in the United States, the UK, Germany, Australia and South Korea.
NewBay develop mobile, desktop and tablet software that deliver digital content to users. One of the services offered by NewBay is its LifeCache product which allows the sharing of digital content to be stored, shared and delivered to any internet enabled device. Typical uses for this allow network operators to deliver social networking photo content to be delivered. Some of NewBay’s customers include AT&T, Telefonica, T-Mobile and LG. Many of who have NewBay software pre-installed on their products.
